Five mineral sunscreens Caroline Donofrio

When it comes to the wide world of skin care products, there is one thing that every dermatologist, esthetician and beauty lover can agree with…

Sunscreen is the most important step in your daily routine.

Admittedly, I wasn’t always committed to sunscreen. It caught my eye and made them burn. As a result, my skin erupted in angry spots or itchy red spots. He left a greasy movie that lasted all day. But since then I’ve changed the tune (and, thankfully, the sun protection formulas as well).

Sunscreens fall into one of two categories: 1) chemical, which contain compounds that convert UV rays into heat and then release it, and 2) mineral, with ingredients that physically block and repel the rays. The skin absorbs chemical sunscreens, while mineral creams remain on the surface of the skin. Although both offer effective protection, mineral sunscreens are thought to be better for sensitive skin, including rosacea, because they help keep the skin cool.

Mineral sunscreens used to bring images of chalk formulas a la Spicoli’s nosebut the latest crop is clean, translucent and a pleasure to wear.

So, in the name of skin care, I have tried many, many formulas and I can enthusiastically recommend the following five:

Mineral sunscreen Saie Sunvisor

Good for everyday: Saie Sunvisor Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 35
I won’t bury the ice: this is my overall favorite for everyday wear. The lightweight formula glides on the skin, making it easiest to smooth before a morning walk or run. It also feels transparent enough that you can wear it comfortably all day, alone or with makeup. The pink formula in the tube continues to be clear, with a hint of glow – the effect is not glittery, but just ethereal, as if you come from an exercise class or have excellent genes. It leaves my skin silky and moist, thanks to vitamin E, aloe vera, argan and grape oils. In the week when I first tried this, I couldn’t help but admire how dewy I looked, which says a lot because I was filled with late night deadlines and devastated by allergies. I never thought I would say that I actively like sunscreen, but I do.

Badger Active Mineral Sunscreen

Good for active: Badger active sunscreen SPF 30
Straight from the tube, this reminds me of nursery paste – white, sticky, thick. But once I rub it in, it redeems itself immediately. The odorless cream goes clear, without a shred of irritation. There is a lot to love in this waterproof formula that is 98% organic and odorless, dyes, parabens, petrolatum, GMOs and synthetics. Although it seems too greasy for everyday wear, I absolutely love it for walks, sports and days at the beach. Bonus: Compared to other formulas, the test tube contains almost twice the size of the product and is great for the face and body.

ColoreScience Mineral Sun Powder

Good for repairs on the go: Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection SPF 30
More friends swear by this brand of sunscreen powder, which is light, dry and easy to powder on it anywhere. While I still prefer to start the day by flapping the liquid (to make sure I’m properly covered), when it comes to traveling or grooming, this can’t be overcome. It fits easily in a bag, and I like that the built-in brush allows you to re-apply without worrying about tiring fingers or a greasy noon face. You can even pat some on your hair to prevent the sun from reaching your part.

Avene Solaire Mineral Sunscreen

Good for sensitive skin: Avène UV care for sun protection Multi-Defense SPF 50
This main French pharmacy, designed for sensitive skin, looks and feels like a sunscreen in a group. It goes white and sticky, reminiscent of the old days of beach childhoods. But any stickiness evaporates within minutes, leaving behind an invisible shield that is completely odorless – as well as water resistant for up to 40 minutes. Designed to soothe and soothe sensitive skin, this is a great bet for anyone who wants a true sunscreen.

ILIA Super Serum skin color

Good for tinting: ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40
I’m a big fan of everything that simplifies my mornings, and this product – which combines skin care, makeup and sunscreen – couldn’t be easier. The liquid formula is a little thicker than traditional tinted serums and requires some persuasion to blend into the skin. It takes me a few minutes for the product to settle, but when that happens, I really like how it looks and feels. It adds instant nail polish on makeup-free days or acts as a great base with concealer at times when I want more coverage. Comes in 18 shades and brands get to know your match the feature allows you to upload a selfie and quickly find the right one for yourself.

Here it is! As for wearing it, I like to apply my regular morning moisturizer, give it a minute to sink while getting dressed, and then apply sunscreen on top. Whenever I do mineral sunscreens, I end the day with a double cleanse, to make sure I take everything off before going to bed.

What sunscreen do you wear? Do you have a favorite formula? We would love to hear.

PS 5 great eyebrow products i my cosmetic product on a desert island.
