When we turned into Myakka River State Park, it seemed like we were entering a scene from Jurrasic Park (as an introductory song – yes, we sang it). As we continued to drive, we were surprised by the huge size of the park.
Florida has nearly 200 state parks, and Myakka River State Park is one of the largest in Florida and covers 37,000 acres.
During our visit, we went on a boat tour where we saw a bunch of gators, including a baby, and various birds.
There is also a picturesque canopied promenade that we planned to check out, but then we were disturbed by the flower fields in bloom.
Boat trips last at 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. Tickets are the first to come.
