In the years since Scott Morrison announced this, the need for an integrity commission has only intensified.
Integrity in politics is important.
It is important for the health and strength of our democracy.
But how can Scott Morrison take care of you, how can he take care of our jobs, prosperity and democracy, when he is so busy taking care of himself?
Australians deserve a government that is on their side.
Anthony Albanese and Labor will deliver the National Integrity Commission, the federal anti-corruption body, powerful, transparent and independent.
Labor will fight for transparency and integrity in government.
And that is why today I am proud to move on to the sixth chapter of this conference – Strengthening Australian Democracy.
I welcome the support of the delegates and look forward to a lively debate on how Labor can bring responsibility to the Australian people.
