Known for its layered and sumptuous interiors, celebrated designer Alidad relies on his love of pattern, color and a deep knowledge of history and art to create spaces with intricate custom details and timeless appeal. Still, it wasn’t always his career path. After a small childhood in Iran, his family moved to London where he first studied statistics and computer science. He then followed his passion and enrolled in a course at Sotheby’s, remaining still the youngest director of the ever Department of Islamic Art. After eight years he realized that his talents and interests were more in the field of interior design and in 1985 he founded his own company of the same name with his own apartment as his first project. Although Alidad has designed countless interiors around the world, nowhere is his approach to design more obvious than in his London home. Here his love of fine craftsmanship, tactile surfaces covered with art and texture, and intricate details is carefully considered and effortlessly incorporated.

And while Alidad’s home is a personal proof of his own heritage and preferences, he also serves as an example of the many aspects of design that he is so generous to share.
And that’s why he started his own Alidad at home a series in which the designer opens his home to a small group of guests every month. During this intimate gathering, visitors will learn his tips and insights into great design and a gracious life.
