During the week a talented potter and designer Christopher Spitzmiller he is busy creating his exquisite lamps, utensils and accessories found in state-of-the-art designer stores and homes across the country, including the White House. But on weekends, they find him at Clove Brook Farm, his perfect rural retreat in Dutchess County, NY. We filmed five years ago episode with Chris there and recently visited it again to see many property updates. Please join me and Susanna for a magical day at Clove Brook Farm, where Chris and partner Anthony Bellomo welcomed us in their growing domain!
Here Chris actively nurtures his gardens, his herds of animals spreading and enthusiastically entertained – our invited garden lunch, downstairs.
Everything seems effortless, but for the past 15 years he has diligently worked on one project after another, from landscaping to refurbishment and refurbishment, including new structures like the striking pool and pool, below
and a dovecote (below, behind its enviable dahlias).
The gardens have been expanded
including a new kitchen garden that partner Anthony designed and installed last spring.
And all the way Chris had in mind his numerous mentors, from legendary decorators Albert Hadley, Mario Buatta and Bunny Williams to Martha Stewart, whose ideas he expertly translated into his own versions.
And now in his new book, A year at Clove Brook Farm, Chris hopes to encourage others to do the same. As Chris stands up for his popular Instagram feed, Clove Brook’s Farm is #progresseveryday. A tireless student, Chris is constantly reading, researching and learning how to expand his knowledge and live the life he has always wanted.
Divided into four seasons, you’ll find tips and information on everything from cooking and baking – Chris ’sweet chocolate chip cookies below –
