Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aunt Narmadaben Modi, who was being treated for coronavirus infection, died on Tuesday in a civilian hospital here, the family said.
Narmadaben, 80, lived with her children in the New Ranip city area.
“Our aunt Narmadaben was admitted to a civilian hospital about ten days ago after her condition worsened after a coronavirus infection,” said Prahlad Modi, the prime minister’s younger brother.
“She died at the hospital today,” he told PTI.
Her husband Jagjivandas, the brother of the prime minister’s father Damodardas, died many years ago, Prahlad Modi said.
