The club says:
Although the club will still be based in Wollongong New South Wales until the end of the season, this decision now opens the possibility of playing up to two games in New Zealand during the 2020/21 A-League season.
The club has previously stated that returning home is the goal. It is important for the fans, our corporate partners and of course the players and staff members – some of whom will be separated from their families for more than six months.
In anticipation of such an announcement, the club is working on a plan to return the team and support staff. This includes travel logistics, liaison with ticket suppliers, and investigation of accommodation arrangements for all teams involved.
With this announcement today, these plans can now be accelerated. We hope to be able to make a new announcement soon regarding the team’s ability to return to New Zealand.
The club would like to emphasize that a final decision on return has not yet been made, especially since a number of factors are involved in this decision – not only for the club, but also for the A-League in a broader sense, due to the risk involved in travel to another country. in any country.
