Boris Johnson is postponing the end of the English restriction on coronavirus as cases of delta variants climb

The idea behind the delay, Johnson said Monday, is for more people to be vaccinated, especially with the second dose, before all restrictions are lifted. Recent research shows that people after the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZenec or Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus are protected from the delta variant by only about 33 percent, but this increases to more than 80 percent with the second dose.
