In the 2021 MLB season, pitchers dominate the outsiders in a historic way, but not all pitchers are excited about the change.
Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw told reporters after the start of Wednesday that while “no kicks are cool”, he believes their 2021 frequency “is probably not good for the game”. according to Mike DiGiovanni of the Los Angeles Times.
“Fans want to see some hits, I get it, and some action, not too many guys on strike,” Kershaw said in a report.
There have already been six no-kicks, and the last comes on Wednesday when Corey Kluber of the Yankees didn’t hit the Rangers. The MLB record for most in one season is seven.
Kershaw believes that part of the reason for the increased non-strike rate in 2021 MLB is messing with baseballs before the season. MLB has reportedly changed the way baseball is produced after a homeboat crash in the past two seasons.
“I appreciate MLB’s attempts [to deaden the baseball], but they seem to have missed the mark so far, ”Kershaw said in a Times report. “Whatever the intention was with the new ball, she really didn’t do anything. There may be fewer locals, which is probably what they want, but April was one of the worst months in the history of the game. ”
The shots this season hit a collective .236, which is the lowest average in the history of the sport. In just three other seasons, the collective hitting average was below .240 – 1968 (.237), 1888 (.239) and 1908 (.239).
Kershaw is the author of not a single striker who played against the Rockies on June 18, 2014. Although his 3.18 ERA of 3.18 would be the highest since his 2008 beginner season, he is also pulling out shots at 10.32 K / 9, the highest value since 2017.
