The Australian NRL has postponed Saturday’s games after the state of Queensland announced a three-day closure due to coronavirus.

Three games of the 20th round – Rabbitohs against the Dragons, Knights against the Raiders and Storm against the Panthers – were all canceled.

The NRL said talks would continue with the Queensland government on the possible play of the two scheduled matches on Sunday.

“The NRL respects the decision of the Queensland government to keep the community safe and healthy following the local transmission of COVID-19 in Southeast Queensland,” the NRL statement added.

The lock was introduced after six new cases of COVID-19 acquired in the community were confirmed by Queensland’s chief health officer.

All clubs are advised to inform their players to return to the team hotels and stay there until further notice.
