Washington A DC court suspended the legal license for Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump, just weeks after New York similarly took action against him.
Giuliani’s legal license will remain suspended in the country’s capital until his case in New York is resolved, according to the DC Court of Appeal.
The suspension of the New York court two weeks ago, and now the DC court, stems from Giuliani’s attempts to annul the results of the 2020 elections.
He was part of a major effort by Trump’s campaign to undo President Joe Biden’s victory in November. The former mayor of New York has made repeated, unfounded claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
In a 33-page decision published last month, the New York State Court of Appeals said there was “uncontrolled evidence” that Giuliani “as a lawyer” for Trump and his campaign “suggested a demonstratively false and misleading statement as a lawyer” for Trump and his campaign “in the 2020 re – election. ”
Giuliani did not make any public statement regarding the DC court that suspended his license for the law, but he posted a retweet on Twitter criticizing the temporary suspension as “just another gross misconduct”.
