Covid-19: TN reports 28,864 new cases

The state on Sunday witnessed a significant drop in the number of new coronavirus cases, with 28,864 new infections reported (compared to 30,016 on Saturday).

For the third day in a row, the number of Covid-19-positive individuals discharged after treatment was higher than the daily number of coronaviruses. 32,982 patients with Covid-19 were discharged on Sunday (Saturday 31,759) to increase the number of active cases to 3,055,546 (October 3, 157).

The samples tested were 1.73,351 (1.74,349) and 493 registered deaths.

Coimbatore still reports more cases than Chennai with 3,537 new infections; while Chennai reported 2,689. Erode reported (1,784); Tiruppur (1,496); Salem (1,295); Chengalpattu (1,194); Trichy (1,128) and the rest of the other counties with less than 1,000 cases, according to the Department of Health and Welfare.

“Visually, the phases of Tamil Nadu’s active cases and the phases of decline can be seen. The positive test rate dropped to 17.8 percent. Active case growth fell to 16 percent to 3,055,546. Every day new cases fell below 30,000 to 28,864 after 20 days. We crossed halfway, ”Vijayanand, a Covid analyst, said in a tweet.

Data say 53,936 people were vaccinated on Sunday, compared to 2,66,426 on Saturday.
