CPI in July increased by 0.4%, apartment prices by 0.6%

The Israeli Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% in July 2021, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, above analysts ’consensus of 0.3%. Since the beginning of 2021, the CPI has risen 2%, and in the last 12 months the CPI has also risen 1.9%.

In July, there was a significant increase in prices in transport (1.6%), culture and entertainment (0.9%) and a significant decrease in prices of clothing and footwear (4.7%) and fruits and vegetables (0.7%).

The housing price index, which is separate from the CPI, continued to grow in the period May-June, compared to April-May, rising by 0.6%. Apartment prices have risen 7.7% in the last 12 months.

During May-June compared to April-May, housing prices in the north rose by 1.5%, prices in the south rose by 1% and rice in central Israel rose by 0.9%. Prices in Haifa rose by 0.6%, in Tel Aviv by 0.2%, and in Jerusalem by 0.3%.

In the 12 months to May-June 2021, prices rose 11.6% in the north, 7.2% in Jerusalem, 7.1% in Tel Aviv, 7% in the south and 7% in Haifa. 6.8%, and prices in central Israel rose 6.6%.
