Arsenal scored twice in injury to stun Crystal Palace, and Roy Hodgson’s last home game in charge of the Eagles ended in disappointment.
Veteran manager Hodgson, 73, announced on Tuesday that he would leave the club at the end of the season after four years in business and received a warm welcome from the returnees from home.
But his farewell match at Selhurst Park ended in defeat in his last breath when Gabriel Martinelli sat down on Martin Odegaard’s cross and turned it over from close range 91 minutes before Nicolas Pepe coldly turned in Arsenal’s third four minutes later.
Christian Benteke equalized the home team with a header from a free kick by Andros Townsend after Pepe threw the ball from the volley and finished Arsenal’s orderly move.
Palace could move up to 12th place on the final day if they improve on the Wolves ’score against Manchester United, while Arsenal have kept on hoping for a top-six finish.
