Leonard’s second season didn’t have the same scope of fight as his memorable 2018, but he was still incredibly productive overall and so far has to be considered a top IDP as well as the best IDP, regardless of position. Even while the concussion cost him three games, Leonard ran up to 121 bars, while achieving unparalleled performance as a blitz (five bags) and in cover (five interceptions). It might seem greedy to expect more from Leonard, but he has yet to play 16 games, and if he does, his numbers could somehow go to an even higher level. If you project his production per shot to this point over a projection of 1,000 shots, you will get approximately 159 moves, seven bags and four interceptions. In fact, the South Carolina product could become relevant to IDPs as early as the first week given its extraordinary player nature — a alignment that has historically led to more showdowns than OLBs on the stronger side — but imagination owners might be best is to listen to the waiting approach as the Indianapolis defense calms down to a 4-3 scheme after playing 3-4 under Chuck Pagan, a few quick seasons.
