When the Caves and Cliffs are updated, Axolotls will spawn in underground water sources such as Lush Caves and Surface Rivers.

Behavior

Axolotls are passive towards the player.
As seen in the picture above, Axolotls can be attached to lead and transferred to the desired water surface. At the moment, they seem to go crazy when they are tied to a potential client.
Axolotls are hostile to all underwater mobs except turtles and dolphins. Players may need to keep their Axolotls pets away from squid if they do not want to swim.
Axolotls have a unique ability to play dead when inflicting damage. There is a 33% chance that this will happen. In such situations Axolotl will fall to the water floor and restore its health.
Out of the water, Axolotls will die after 6000 ticks (five minutes).
Breeding

Axolotls can be farmed with tropical fish. After breeding, adult Axolotls cannot be bred for another five minutes.
Additional tropical fish can be used to reduce the maturation time of Axolotls babies. If it does not feed on tropical fish, the baby Axolotls will need 20 minutes to mature into an adult.
