Everyone is obsidian Minecraft the least favorite block of players. Due to their painfully long mining times, most players never have a spare Obsidian.

Players mostly use Obsidian to create the Nether Portal, thus overlooking its full potential.

Obsidian can be obtained in a variety of ways. It can naturally degenerate in caves if water finds its way into a lava pool. This is the most commonly used technique for acquiring Obsidian.

If the player is lucky, he may find a surface pool of lava, which serves as one of the easiest ways to acquire Obsidian.

To mine Obsidian, players must have either a Diamond or Netherite pick. If it is dug with any other pickaxe, the block will break and no item will fall. Obsidian will need a lot of time for mine.

Players can also trade with Piglin for a 10% chance of receiving one obsidian block.

As mentioned above, Obsidians are usually used to create a Nether Portal, a necessary material if a player has any desire to beat Minecraft.

Obsidian has many other great purposes. They are listed below:

  • Three Obsidians were to make Beacon.
  • The four Obsidians were to create the Enchanting Table.
  • Eight Obsidians were to make the Ender Chest.

In addition to these construction methods, Obsidian is an extremely strong block and is often used in PvP to defend the base. It is also useful in combating reefs, as the player can create an arena where the reef cannot explode!

Obsidian can also be found in multiple chests of prey. Location chests are listed below: (Java edition only)

  • 24% chance to find 4-6 in the Bastion Remnant chest.
  • 8% chance to find 2-4 in Nether Fortress chest.
  • 46% chance of finding 1-2 in a ruined portal chest.
  • 25% chance of finding 3-7 in the gunman’s chest.
