The Central Committee on Direct Taxes (CBDT) will launch a new electronic filing portal on June 7 for the convenience of taxpayers and to provide a modern, seamless experience, along with a faster refund.
The new taxpayer-tailored portal will be integrated with the current processing of income tax refunds (ITR) to issue quick refunds to taxpayers, the CBDT said in a statement.
All interactions and transfers or pending actions will be displayed on one dashboard for further activities of taxpayers, while free ITR preparation software will also be available on the new portal with interactive questions to help taxpayers for ITR 1, 4 (on networks) and offline) and ITR 2 (offline). A plant for the preparation of ITRs 3, 5, 6, 7 will be available soon, it is added.
“Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile to provide certain income details, including salary, home assets, job / profession to be used to pre-fill the ITR. Detailed pre-replenishment of salary income, interest, dividend and capital gains will be available after the TDS and SFT reports are transmitted (maturity date is June 30, 2021), ”the statement said.
There will also be a new call center to help taxpayers and respond quickly to inquiries, while the new portal will also provide detailed FAQs (frequently asked questions), user manuals, videos and a live chatbot / agent.
In addition, functions for filing income tax forms, adding tax experts, filing responses to notifications in impersonal supervision, or complaints would also be available.
Earlier, the tax department said in a tweet that e-filing services will not be available from June 1 to 6, as they will move to the new portal.
