Have a nice weekend. |. | A cup of Jo

What are you doing this weekend? I recently remembered that very light summer checklist, and I’m excited to do it this season – including hanging out inside and not feeling bad about it 🙂 I hope you have a good one, and here are some fun links from all over the internet …

June 11 is now a federal holiday. (New York Times)

Found! Best last-minute A gift for Father’s Day.

Rose Matafeo – creator, writer and star Starstruck – talks about writing his romcom script: “You know what’s so much fun how many times it’s been painful to write, ‘Tom laughs.’ Like, ‘Tom laughs Jessie.’ Then you realize, ‘Damn, I never see a guy laugh at a girl in rom-com.’ It’s always like, “You’re funny” or like “Oh you. ‘And I think it’s annoying to write a character who has to laugh at your jokes, especially when you’re on a show, but it works … I just don’t know why straight men don’t understand the hottest thing you can do is laugh at a woman. It’s that simple. ”(New York magazine)

The most beautiful places in Scandinavia. (Atlantic Ocean Road !!!)

I LOVE this summer spray.

Why I’m selling my dad’s joke catalog. ”

What to say if your child points out that someone is obese.

Now I know the secret of a quiet mind. I wish I had never learned that. ”(Atlantic)

My favourite summer pajamas.

I love being a mom, but this made me laugh out loud.

Colleagues New Yorkers: new Winner Bakery in Slope Park is wildly delicious. Take their baguette and eat it with soft butter and thank you later.

Plus, three reader comments:

Lindsay says 13 readers share their photos of the gathering: “I just sit here and read this and (happily) sob. Wow! Note: Every person I spoke to this week is exhausted and feels insecure. Be gentle with yourself outside. We seem to be trying to get back to a ‘normal life’, many feelings that we couldn’t process last year (because we were in survival mode) come to the fore.

Tell Kate meals coming home: “My mom comes from a long line of women who don’t know how to cook, and that used to be bad (canned green beans, cooked; pie with chicken without salt and sauce inside). I explicitly remember complaining at my grandmother’s house after they gave her an ice cream salad without topping and an overcooked steak with ketchup for dinner, she said, “I didn’t graduate from cooking” (she earned two master’s degrees in the 50s ?! Married with two small children?!). Then it occurred to me: they can’t cook * according to design *. My mom, her mom, and my great-grandmother gave themselves permission * not to do household chores *, which was really liberating in their time. So when I get home, I’m looking forward to going out for Mexican food at ‘our place’. ”

Colleen says what are your favorite baby names: “After years of infertility and three losses in isolation in 2020, we are expecting our first child at the end of September. His name will be Umeed Neenad. Umeed means “hope” and Neenad means “sound of celebration”. ”
