The Indian Medical Research Council, or ICMR, has clinically excluded recovered plasma treatment for patients suffering from Covid-19 from its new revised guidelines.
The decision comes after clinicians and scientists expressed concern after ICMR on April 22 in revised guidelines allowed the use of recovered plasma to treat patients with Covid-19.
In the meantime, the use of Remdesivr is allowed outside the drug in the treatment of moderate to severe cases that require additional oxygen. In addition, Tocilizumab may also be considered in more severe cases, according to new guidelines.
India reported 2.81,386 Covid cases daily with 4,106 deaths in the last 24 hours to 8:00 a.m. on Monday. Cumulatively, covid cases have so far been 2.49,65,463 cases, of which the active cases are 35,16,997, those recovered 2,11,74,076, and the death toll 2.74,390.
