Iran is announcing a list of presidential candidates dominated by conservatives

One of the candidates, Ebrahim Raisi, a conservative priest who heads the Iranian judiciary is considered the leading candidate and consensus of Iran’s solid factions. Raisi, who unsuccessfully ran for president four years ago, is also considered a possible successor to Khamenei. Human rights groups linked him to the mass killings of dissidents in 1988, when he was a member of a council involved in sentencing prisoners to death.
