The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced last Thursday (June 10th) that Singapore is entering phase 3 (increased warning).
Although the government has eased restrictions on group gatherings of two to five people, it said dining at F&B stores will resume later than June 21st.
The health ministry said today (June 18th) that although meals in the plans will continue as planned, it will be limited to groups of up to two people instead of five. These adjustments are in light of the latest virus epidemics and the new cluster in Bukit Merah.
“We allow people from the same household to have multiple tables, but they have to say very clearly that they are from the same household, which is not new,” said Lawrence Wong, co-chair of the Covid-19 force’s multi-ministerial mission.
“We allowed that before and we will continue to do so. But if you are not from the same household, then you cannot go more than once to book or have more tables, so the same rules that were previously valid will still apply. “
This means that a group of six family members, for example, will not be able to sit together at a table of six, he stressed.
It can be increased to groups of five in mid-July
Rapid testing of COVID-19 for staff in these higher-risk environments will be stepped up to give Singapore “greater confidence” to open up further, “excluding unforeseen circumstances and the development of a pandemic,” said Gan Kim Yong, co-chair of the task force.
Group sizes for these higher-risk activities can also allow up to five people from mid-July.
“This is a more cautious approach to reduce the risk of jumps in cases and the creation of large clusters. But we are aware that the food and food sector will still need help, and we will support them as we further draw some safe distance measures next Monday, ”he added.
According to the MOH, recorded music will not be allowed to be played at F&B facilities to prevent the risk of transmission from loud-talking customers.
There should also be a safe distance of at least one meter between groups of snack bars, and customers should always wear masks, except when eating or drinking.
Gyms and fitness studios can continue with indoor sports or exercise activities in groups of up to two people and in classes of up to 30 people, including an instructor.
There should be a safe distance of at least two meters between individuals and three meters between groups.
Masked and sports activities or outdoor masking exercises can be continued in groups of up to five people and in classes of up to 30 people, including an instructor.
In addition, wedding receptions will not be allowed until mid-July.
“We expect the number of COVID cases to increase … especially in the coming weeks. We are ready for this, but we must continue to be vigilant and adhere to safe governance measures, ”Gan said.
