It is an opportunistic month for creatives in Malaysia. Earlier, Clubhouse announced their first ever accelerator to support creatives, and more recently MDEC updated five key programs under their recent PRISMA and BATIK Digital grants.
PRISMA (Malaysian Creative Industry Stimulus Package) is an initiative of the Malaysian Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) worth a total of 89.2 million RM, which aims to benefit around 9,000 creative industry players in Malaysia.
BATIK Digital and PRISMA will offer up to 40,000 and 50,000 RM, respectively. Several cycles will take place, and each cycle will accept only 40 applicants, with a total of 200 to 250 slots available for both programs.
These 5 key programs are:

- Digital Content Enterprise Development (EDP)
- Creating creative content
- Digital Content Technology Infrastructure Support (BATIK Digital)
- PRISMA Digital Content Assignment (DCG PRISMA)
1. Digital creative content market access and business matching (2 points)
Goal: Providing assistance to companies offering digital creative content services and IP commercialization.
What it does: It exposes companies to the international market, creates business opportunities for their IP and / or services and creates sales and commercialization of their IP and / or their services.
Similar candidates: (B2B) Companies and studios for digital creative content involved in animation, interactive games, news and digital comics.
Program duration: From February to December 2021.

2. Digital Content Enterprise Development (EDP)
Goal: To minimize skills gaps in the digital creative content industry covering components such as technical, business ability and educator development.
What it does: It enables studies to recruit and recruit new employees by reducing the amount of internal training required, encourages community exchange by formalizing the guidance of older people in the industry, and uses business training skills that include creative knowledge.
Similar candidates: Institute for higher education students, new graduates (diploma or diploma), unemployed talents, as well as semi-qualified and qualified talents.
Program duration: From March to December 2021.

3. Creating creative content
Goal: Help Malaysians, especially young people, who are interested in deepening their knowledge in the online streaming industry and producing creative video content.
What it does: It encourages new live streaming activities for digital games developed by Malaysians, establishes platforms to promote and train local digital games on social networks, and encourages the creation of new content and revenue through online video platforms.
Similar candidates: Malaysians over the age of 16 who are interested in digital games and creative content. Candidates with no experience in development and streaming will be given priority.
Program duration: From March to July 2021.

4. Support for digital content technology infrastructure (BATIK Digital)
Goal: To maintain content quality, data security and consistency of results in adapting to the new standard through the compensation of incentives for technological solutions.
What it does: It reduces the additional software and hardware costs of companies / studios, strengthens the willingness of local studios to take advantage of global opportunities and be on par with international studies, and ensures business continuity of local creative studios affected by the pandemic.
Similar candidates: Companies or studios involved in the development and creation of animation, digital games, interactive media and digital comics. They must also have a proven track record and portfolio in creating IP or rental services in digital creative content.
Program duration: From March to July 2021.

5. Assignment of digital content PRISMA (DCG PRISMA)
Goal: Help local creative industry players adopt and adapt to the new norm through the creation of new and compelling intellectual properties (IP), create opportunities for companies to continue to develop quality creative content, and provide digital marketing and distribution activities.
What it does: Encourages the creation of new digital creative content that can be accepted, sold and displayed globally, provides opportunities and platforms for industry players to develop and create digital creative content and supports digital creative content creators in digital marketing and promotion of existing digital creative content.
Similar candidates: Companies or studios involved in the development and creation of animation, digital games, interactive media and digital comics, with more than 50% of the capital owned by a Malaysian. Program members must also have more than 1 year of experience and a proven portfolio in creative content management.
Program duration: From March to December 2021.

The PRISMA initiative is intended to achieve some of MyDIGITAL’s goals, which include producing 200 IPs (from animation to games) for the sector, achieving an 8% annual growth rate in digital content exports, and achieving top 20 points for knowledge and technology under Global Innovation Index.
