British Prince Andrew has been handed a lawsuit by an American woman for whom he is accused to have sex with her while she was a minor, and while being abused by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a new court filing revealed on Friday.
Andrew, who is the Duke of York, was served with a civil lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre on August 27 in England, according to that motion in federal court in Manhattan.
The document says the suit was left with a police officer who was on duty at the door of the Royal Lodge in Windsor, a property hired by Andrew.
The prince, the son of Queen Elizabeth, has denied Giuffre’s allegations and says he does not remember ever meeting her.
Andrew had been Epstein’s friend for years.
The photo shows him with Giuffre many years ago, like Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and defendant procurement standing smiling in the background.
Epstein, who was also previously a friend of former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, died in August 2019 in a federal prison cell in Manhattan of what was officially declared suicide by hanging.
In that time, a mysterious money manager he was indicted in federal court for trafficking dozens of underage girls so he could sexually abuse them.
Giuffre sued Andrew last month, claiming he sexually abused her when she was 17 years old.
“I hold Prince Andrew accountable for what he did to me,” she said.
“The powerful and the rich are not exempt from responsibility for their actions. I hope other victims will see that it is possible not to live in silence and fear, but to regain their lives by speaking and demanding justice.”
