On behalf of all the peoples of the United States, we extend our deepest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the entire royal family and all the peoples of the United Kingdom on the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
During his 99 years of life, he has seen our world change dramatically and repeatedly. From his service in World War II, 73 years together with the Queen and his entire life in public – Prince Philip gladly dedicated himself to the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and his family.
The impact of his decade of dedicated public service is reflected in the worthy goals he has raised as a patron, in the environmental efforts he has advocated, in the members of the armed forces he has supported, in the young people he has inspired and much more. His legacy will not live only through the family, but in all the charitable endeavors he has shaped.
Jill and I meanwhile hold in our hearts the children of the Queen and Prince Philip, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
