India is recording an increase in cases of COVID-19 and is in the midst of a second wave of infections. The country reported 1.31,968 new cases of COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours as of Friday morning.
To cope with the rise in cases, the government has stepped up vaccination against COVID-19. As of April 1, vaccination is open to all citizens over the age of 45. According to provisional data, a total of 32.16 light doses were administered by 8pm on Friday. India has so far administered a 9.78 crore dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
