French captain Charles Ollivon will miss Sunday’s game against Scotland after a positive test for coronavirus.
Four other players – Brice Dulin, Cyril Baille, Romain Taofifenu and Peato Mauvaka – were also tested positive.
Mauvaka did not show up in the 23rd round to win the second round over Ireland, but nine players from that team have contracted the virus and will miss out.
Les Bleus are at the top of the standings of six nations after they also won the opening game against Italy.
The French rugby federation said that two members of the backroom staff were also considered “suspicious cases” after their tests.
The players and staff involved will return home to isolate themselves, and the rest of the team will return to practice on Wednesday, with testing taking place every 24 hours.
Half-time star Antoine Dupont, center Arthur Vincent, whore Julien Marchand, winger Gabin Villiere and props Mohamed Haouas are already isolating themselves after returning positive tests last week.
Head coach Fabien Galthie and assistant William Servat were also positive earlier this week and isolated themselves.
Unlimited players Gaetan Barlot, Thierry Paiva and Cyril Cazeaux have been invited to the squad, along with Baptist Pesentis and Thomas Ramos.
