Captain Rachel Malcolm has disappeared due to injury as Scotland made four changes for the Women’s Six Nations meeting with Italy on Saturday.
Evie Gallagher starts for the first time as she replaces Malcolm in the back row.
Props Megan Kennedy is in shape again, Sarah Law enters in the middle of the summer and there’s room for Liz Musgrove’s wings.
Helen Nelson takes over the captaincy and moves from number 10 to center, with Hannah Smith involved in Camp GB Sevens.
Unlimited duo Evie Wills and Coreen Grant are among the replacements.
Molly Wright, last on the bench, serves suspension of three games for her red card in the opening defeat by England 52-10.
Italy also lost hard to the title defender, wearing a dress 67-3 at home last week.
“We will strive to build on the positive aspects of our performance against England, especially our set-up and resilience on the pitch,” Scotland head coach Bryan Easson said.
“I was really impressed with our ability to put pressure on England in that second half, but now we’re going to look for players who will bring that form for a full 80 minutes against Italy and turn the pressure into points.”
The winners in Scotstone will continue with France or Ireland in the third-fourth place playoffs, and the losers will meet Wales and decide fifth and sixth in the truncated tournament.
Scotland: Rollie, Musgrove, Thomson, Nelson, Gaffney, Law, McDonald; Bartlett, Skeldon, Kennedy, Wassell, McMillan, Gallagher, McLachlan, Cattigan.
Replacements: Rettie, Cockburn, Muzambe, Belisle, Howat, Maxwell, Willis, Grant.
