Hideki Matsuyama’s historic victory at The Masters, the impressive performances of debutant Augusta and the story of breaking clubs all feature in the latest Sky Sports Golf podcast.
Rob Lee and Gary Murphy joined Josh Antmann to look back at the big points of conversation from the inaugural male major of the year, where Matsuyama once became the first Asian Green Jacket winner with his first win.

“Being the first Japanese player to win the Masters is so special, especially since it’s the year that the Olympics are going to Tokyo,” Murphy told Sky Sports Golf podcast. “He’ll have some escort when he gets back there, and I can’t even imagine what kind of exposure and coverage there will be from him.

“It’s great for him because he is a quality player who has existed and has existed for many years. It is not easy to win big homes, so enthusiastic that he could cope with the pressure.
“Maybe [smaller Japanese media presence] was something his team could look to the future. We must try to narrow it down [attention] a little downhill and he obviously succeeded in having less pressure from the road. “
