The Minister of Finance held a meeting on Monday with Salil Parekh, Ph.D. Med. And the CEO of Infosys, to convey the deep “disappointment and concern” of the government and taxpayers over continued problems on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department even after two and a half months since its launch.
She sought an explanation from Infosys for the recurring issues facing taxpayers.
The Ministry of Finance stressed that there is a need for additional funds and efforts by Infosys to ensure a significant delay in the delivery of agreed services. He was also sensitized to the difficulties faced by taxpayers and the problems arising from delays in the functioning of the portal.
The Minister of Finance requested that the problems faced by taxpayers regarding the current functionality of the portal be resolved by September 15, 2021, so that taxpayers and professionals can work smoothly on the portal.
Parekh said that he and his team are doing everything to ensure the smooth functioning of the portal. He said that over 750 team members are working on this project, and Pravin Rao COO Infosys is personally overseeing this project. He said Infosys is working rapidly to provide taxpayers with a flawless experience on the portal.
