“We asked them (Dr. Reddy’s) how many doses and by when they could provide. There was no answer from them yet,” Kejriwal said.
Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, said on Saturday that his government had sent dr. Reddy for the supply of doses of vaccine COVID-19 Sputnik V. of 67 lakh.
“We asked for 67 lacquer doses per Covishield and Covaxin and sent it to Dr. Reddy who are Sputnik dealers in India for almost the same amount,” Kejriwal said, adding that a response from the company is awaited.
“We asked them (Dr. Reddy’s) how many doses and by when they could provide. There was no answer from them yet,” Kejriwal said.
Amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the opening of vaccinations for anyone over the age of 18, there is a shortage of vaccines in all states.
Earlier this week, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the capital had no vaccine stockpile, and Bharat Biotech refused to provide additional doses of Covaxin.
Dr Reddy’s has joined the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to conduct clinical trials of Sputnik V and for its distribution rights in India. The vaccine, which was imported from Russia, was lightly launched on Friday, and will probably be available on the market from next week.
Dr. Reddy’s said it is working closely with its six manufacturing partners in India to meet regulatory requirements to ensure a smooth and timely supply. The vaccine will be introduced initially, after which it will be produced in India.
Kejriwal said COVID-19 infection could be reduced by vaccination and expressed hope that the country’s vaccination program would keep pace with an increase in the supply of stings.
