The US is counting on defeat in Afghanistan

0

Biden presides over the infamous departure. Two decades ago, the United States invaded Afghanistan and, with local allies, overthrew the Taliban government in Kabul, which had given refuge to the al-Qaeda terrorist group. Twenty years later, the Taliban are back in power, reinforced by billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment left behind by the Afghan army that collapsed before the militants advanced. As US officials evacuated the embassy in Kabul, they were sent an internal letter to burn sensitive items, including American flags, so as not to fall into the hands of the Taliban.
