In addition to striped tops and sexy, messy hair, we somewhat define the top look of a Frenchwoman without leaning on clichés, difficult. “For me, it’s finding some great statements that define your personality and make you feel the best,” offers the woman who wrote How to be a Parisian wherever you are. (Her subsequent book, Older, but better, but older—A collection of jokes about the advantages and disadvantages of aging is equally brilliant.) “Then wear them over and over again, mixing them with the basics. Call it French style if you want! ”
GAIA REPOSSI
artist by profession, jewelry designer, creative director of Repossi
“French style means natural sophistication with a hint of rawness,” Repossi simply says. The daughter of master jeweler Alberto Repossi, she submitted her first design to a family business when she was just nineteen and rebelliously insisted on designing a diamond necklace with a plain T-shirt – a high-low aesthetic ahead of her time and one she holds to this day.

“My favorite food to dress in the way French women dress is that it’s never in trend,” explains Parisienne of London. “We know what suits us (or we certainly try to figure it out as we go through the stages of femininity) and we repeat the clothes without feeling ashamed of it.” What you must have: shiny jeans, a bag without a logo and something on your lips.
