Simply put, many WWE the stars are directed AEW because for the first time in a long time there is finally another place to work. Although there are several outstanding promotions in wrestling in North America and beyond, only AEW has the finances and list to be legitimate competitors for WWE.
Sometimes the stars just align, and that certainly happened for AEW and Tony Khan when many of WWE’s talented stars were released. During a recent call from investors, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon even hinted that he had given AEW several members from his list.
“I don’t consider them a competition in the way I would consider WCW nowadays, not even close to that. And I’m not sure how much their investment is in terms of their talent, but maybe we could give them something else, ”said Vince McMahon.
There are many reasons why so many WWE Superstars can be tied to AEW. Creative freedom is a major factor, as is a more relaxed backstage environment.
Is AEW a better place to work than WWE for a professional wrestler?
The way WWE works is diametrically opposed to AEW with its team of writers and promotional advertisements. AEW accepted the term professional wrestling, while WWE distanced itself from it.
The more relaxed scenery at AEW has also contributed to migration. In an interview with Sportskeed Wrestling in an exclusive interview, former WWE RAW CEO Eric Bischoff said the following:
“There’s no comparison,” Bischoff said. “AEW is a lot more fun. It’s a lot more, so, I mean, that’s what it is. They’re younger talent. It’s a smaller company. They’re a newer company. There’s camaraderie and a spirit of collaboration, which I find in an creative environment absolutely that same spirit of collaboration doesn’t really exist in WWE. WWE is like a factory, while AEW is more like an art studio when it comes to creativity. “
Many former WWE superstars, whether it was Dean Ambrose or Aleister Black, expressed their dissatisfaction with the way they were used before they switched to AEW. Nevertheless, it would be unfair to call one system superior to another because WWE is still the industry leader after so many years.
