Recently, in our apartment, something very dramatic was happening in the morning …
I wake up at 5 in the morning
FIVE in the morning It’s still dark. The birds don’t even chirp.
My head is not spinning; I’m still tired; but my body is awake. I don’t know what causes it (magnesium deficiency? Generalized anxiety? Perimenopause?), But for whatever reason, my eyes have opened in the last month before the crack of dawn and I end up feeling exhausted all day.
Fortunately, this morning at our neighboring cafe, the barista suggested an excellent solution: napping coffee. Have you ever heard of them? “I discovered them in college,” she told me. “You knock out a cup of coffee and go to bed immediately. Set the alarm to 20 minutes. Wake up completely refreshed. “
It seems science corroborates this. Studies have shown that caffeine and a short nap improve performance over caffeine alone or sleep alone.
So this morning, after drinking the fridge, I lay for 20 minutes – and I felt a lot better after waking up. Who knows? Maybe this at 5 in the morning won’t be so bad after all.
Thoughts? Can you try the coffee? Have you already? What time do you wake up in the morning?
