I’ve always loved a good club – club articles,, documentary film club,, cooking club,, group of soups – so during the quarantine I was thrilled when my friend Ameer suggested it to me film club…
Here’s how it works: First, gather a group of 8-10 friends. Take turns choosing a weekly movie and everyone watch it separately. Then gather at Zoom and talk about the movie every week – for us it’s Wednesday at 8.30pm and, yes, you can wear pajamas.
So far, we have watched and discussed these films:
Harold and Maude
White tiger (I liked this)
Man
Three days of Condor
Feeling and sensitivity
Judas and the black messiah
Defend your life
Purple Noon (1960’s Talented Mr. Ripley’s Version)
Throughout the club, I was constantly amazed at how differently people interpret movies – I like to listen to hot views and discussions of friends, and some movies are divided in the middle in the sense that people love or hate them. Also, Harold and Maude used to be one of my favorite movies – I even took Alex to watch him on one of our early dates – but this time I found it kind of fun. So fascinating how your tastes can change!
What about you? Would you start a film club? Do you already have it? What movies have you been enjoying lately? I can’t wait to see Threat.
PS The best family movies, i which are your three favorite movies?
